Bucks-based ISP Nildram has added new "pay-as-you-go" broadband products to its existing stable of ADSL offerings in a bid to cash in on demand for entry-level services. Its "dslSurf500" product costs from £19.49 a month and comes in two flavours based either on the amount of data used or time spent online.

For this price, punters can opt for 1Gb of usage a month and if they need more, they can buy an additional 1Gb for £1.95. Then again, their £19.49 a month could give them 50 hours online a month, with an extra 50 hours costing them £1.95. Both services are available from 1 June although the ISP is accepting orders now.

Elsewhere, BT is axing the upfront costs of signing up to its BT Broadband Basic service as part of a time-limited promo. Punters signing up to its 19.99 a month capped service from 20 May until 20 July won't have to stump up £80 for their modem and installation. This promo is on top of BTs recent free flight offer for new broadband punters.

WMeanwhile, Wanadoo UK (formerly Freeserve) has signed a new distie deal with retailer Maplins Electronics and means its narrowband and broadband products are now available in 85 of Maplins' stores in the UK. Together with existing distribution partners - including Orange, Argos, Texaco, Index, Lloyds Pharmacy and the Dixons Group stores for broadband (AOL UK now has the narrowband distie deal with Dixons) - it means Wanadoo gear is available in more than 4,000 stores in the UK. ®
