Intel's 'Tejas' desktop processor, the successor to 'Prescott', has been delayed again, pushed back a further quarter to Q2 2005.

Roadmaps that surfaced through 2003 showed Tejas earmarked for first Q4 2004 (http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/32320.html) release date, then a Q1 2005 (http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/33350.html) launch.

Such a delay shouldn't come as much of a surprise, given how far off - in processor design terms - Tejas' launch will be. Earlier Tejas 'delays' were the result of the problems Intel has had getting Prescott and its 90nm fabrication process right. Prescott should arrive early next month, and no doubt Intel wants to maximise the marketable value of the design before introducing its successor. ®
