Fifty more exchanges to get SDSL

Some people like it fast both ways

BT is to upgrade a further 50 exchanges to provide SDSL services to London and the West Midlands.

Geared specifically for business use, SDSL (Symmetric DSL) gives the same rate of data transfer upstream as well as downstream and is spot-on for punters looking for services such as fast file transfer and Web hosting.

All 50 exchanges are in Greater London and the West Midlands and are scheduled to be converted to SDSL by the end of January.

BT Wholesale launched its SDSL broadband service in September 2003 on 100 exchanges serving metropolitan areas in London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Yorkshire, the West Midlands and Scotland.

There are currently around 20 service providers reselling the product and around 100 end users. ®
