Eminister Stephen Timms and the minister for rural affairs, Alun Michaels, are to address a key conference which will examine how to bring affordable broadband to areas currently without high-speed Net access.

The conference, to be held on 27-28 January 2004, is being organised by the Access to Broadband Campaign (ABC), a not-for-profit outfit focused on promoting universal, affordable broadband access across the UK.

The conference - Revolution at the Edge: Broadband Networks and Innovation - will cover the technologies, strategy and business models that can be employed to help deliver affordable broadband access.

The two-day ABC Conference, is to be held at Cisco Europe Headquarters, near Heathrow. Further details can be found at ABC's Web site here (http://www.abcampaign.org.uk).
