Free whitepaper – IBM Blue Gene/P versus other cluster systems for HPC

UnitedLinux, the collective of Linux distro wannabes, hasbeens and neverweres, has set up a testing and self-certification programme for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs).

ISVs who sign up for the UnitedLinux Ready get a free developer's copy for testing and validating their applications. Once certified, applications get to have a nice logo attached to their name and link on UnitedLinux member company web sites.

UnitedLinux comprises four companies which have banded together to attempt to break Red Hat's grip (http://www.idc.com/getdoc.jhtml?containerId=pr2002_07_16_104905) on the enterprise Linux market. The members are Connectivea, SuSE Linux, TurboLinux and...SCO. SCO, sticks out like a sore thumb somewhat, in light of its recent legal action against IBM. Who can forget the Linux-baiting antics (http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/53/31366.html) of some SCO employees? Until this case is resolved, one must question the stability of the United Linux consortium. ®
