Illuminated keyboard

Auravision's EluminX illuminated keyboard isn't entirely new, but since we've not come across it before and as the company plans to show off its wares at CeBIT USA next week, we thought we'd mention it anyway.

Taking a leaf out of Apple's 17in PowerBook, the EluminX keyboard glows in the dark, back-lit for low-light environments - you know, late night coding or Quake sessions where you're just too involved to get up and go turn on the light.

The 104-key EluminX keyboards are available in black, beige and silver colours, with blue, turquoise, red or orange illumination. They connect using a PS/2 interface, which is a bit of a downer - come on, guys, we're all USB these days. The keyboard measures 42 x 15.6 x 1.6cm (16.8 x 6.2 x 0.6in), and comes with a 1.35m straight cable.

Auravision will also be showing off a new 800dpi optical mouse in matching colours.

SmartDisplay PC

UK PC maker Evesham has begun shipping the first PC equipped with a Viewsonic LCD based on Microsoft's Smart Display technology.

The Evolution 2600Si PC bundles the Viewsonic AirPanel V150. Users can roam around their homes or offices, panel in hand - it lifts up off its stand - while the computer stays put. Display and host PC communicate wirelessly across an 802.11b link. The display is touch-sensitive, allowing users access information directly.

The 2600Si itself is based on a 2.66GHz Pentium 4 processor, and ships with 512MB of DDR SDRAM, 120Mb hard drive (we assume they mean 120GB hard drive), combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive and a 128MB ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card.

The 2600Si retails for £1999 including VAT. ®
