VIA chipset targets mobile Athlon XP-M

Centrino who?

VIA has followed AMD's Athlon XP-M launch with a chipset designed for the new mobile processor family.

The ProSavage KN400 supports all 12 XP-M processors, including the Barton core-based 2500+ and 2400+ parts. All speeds of DDR SDRAM are supported.

The chipset's VT8235E South Bridge integrates UniChrome 2D/3D graphics and MPEG-2 acceleration technology supplied by VIA subsidiary S3 Graphics. It also offers six-channel audio, native USB 2.0 support, ATA-133 and integrated 10/100Mbps Ethernet.

The South Bridge connects to the KN400 North Bridge across a 533MBps link. ®
