Todmorden - the first area in the UK to reach its trigger level to be converted to ADSL - is to get broadband.
According to sources Todmorden in West Yorkshire has managed to confirm enough orders for BT to go ahead and invest the necessary cash to convert the exchange.
BT is expected to confirm Todmorden's success tomorrow.
There had been doubts as to whether Todmorden would reach its threshold after it became apparent that some ISPs had failed to cooperate with BT's demand-led pre-registration scheme. ®
