Nintendo slashes GameCube prices in Europe

Not even launched yet

Nintendo today slashed the recommended retail price in Europe for the upcoming Gamecube. It was going to be €249: now it will be €199, or £129 if you're in the UK, when the next-gen games console launches on the continent. GameCube launches in Europe on May 3.

Last week, Microsoft marked down the Xbox in Europe, in response to poor sales. But it still costs £199 in the UK, and €299 in the Eurozone.

Nintendo is not prepared to let Microsoft steal any price thunder, and neither, we guess, will Sony: Playstation 2 prices surely won't stand still after this? ®
