Free whitepaper – Optimizing the data center for cost and efficiency
The 1901 Census site is expected to be offline for another week or two as those behind the site undertake urgent work to get it up and running.
A statement on the Public Record Office's (PRO) site says it is installing a "more powerful database server" which it claims will sort out the problems and make the information of the 1901 census available to the public.
Once up and running the PRO is advising people to refrain from using the "browser 'Refresh' button [since this] will only serve to compound the problems of site access and we would be grateful if you could avoid doing this."
How reassuring. ®
