Cancom sucks up MacLine assets
Trying to put its towel on all UK AppleCentres
Cancom, a German owned Apple reseller, is picking the bones of defunct Mac resellers. It snapped up the assets of bust Cambridge-based dealer MacLine on Thursday 8 November, just a month after grabbing the remaining goodies of liquidated London business Mygate.
MacLine called in the receivers and ceased trading on Monday 5 November
According to Macworld, Guilford-based Cancom has taken on 10 former MacLine staff and the online business is back up and running. AppleCentre Cambridge is also set to reopen.
Cancom, formerly known as Multiple Zones, is based in Guildford. It was sold to German reseller Cancom last year.
The demise of MacLine and Mygate reduces the UK online Mac reseller market to six main players: MacWarehouse; Computer Warehouse; Jigsaw; Cancom; Gordon Harwood Computers, and Apple dealer-to-the-stars Micro Anvika.
Mygate called in the receivers after accumulating debts of more than £1 million, on annual sales of £6 million. ®
