Are ex-Dixons staffers hogging etail?

New BOL head boy is Kalms disciple

Online Amazon wannabe BOL.com has appointed ex-Dixons Group marketing manager Tony Prescott as its new MD.

Prescott takes over from Alexander Broich, who launcehd the Bertelsmann-owned company in 1999.

Prescott joined BOL 18 months ago as games/software director and deputy MD.

The appointment means another former Dixons staffer is heading up a major etailer. Terry Duddy, a former main man at Dixons, now heads up Argos, which owns Jungle.com.

Both men learnt at the knee of Dixons' legendary boss Sir Stanley Kalms who has nothing left to learn on how to make suppliers sit up and beg for little margin. These skills will be invaluable to the next generation of retail bosses.

Kalms was most recently in the news venting his anger at UK government and EU legislation. He is unhappy with European waste recycling rules, UK Sunday trading laws, the UK Consumer Credit Act, and the Town and Country Planning Act. Sir Stan feels his retail group is hamstrung by "unworkable" rules. ®
