Openwoe offers free DSL installation for existing punters
Roll up, roll up, one month only...
BTopenworld is offering 850,000 existing narrowband customers the chance to upgrade to its broadband DSL service for nowt.
The offer only runs for October but means that punters won't have to cough up £75 for installation.
The promo is one of a number initiatives designed to give a fillip to demand, something which BT maintains is the main reason why broadband in Britain has failed to take-off.
In an email to subscribers the monster telco said: "As a BTopenworld AnyTime or BTopenworld for BT Surf package customer, you can act now and take this great opportunity to change the way you use the Internet and have broadband (ADSL) installed for free - saving £150 on the normal price.
Except that's not strictly true. This offer for existing customers lasts for October. However, BTopenworld already announced it would cut the cost of installation to £75 from October for three months. So really, it's just a cut of £75 - not £150.
Last week BTopenwoe evicted 200 people from its unmetered narrowband service after they failed to cut their usage. ®
