New hybrid storage solutions

In response to our piece yesterday which condemned Norway to e-commerce oblivion somewhere up near the Arctic Circle, we are pleased to announce that the country is now officially back in Europe.

To recap, Norwegians visiting our Cash'n'Carrion Register shop were outraged to discover that their country was listed under 'Rest of the World' for the purpose of calculating postal rates.

The insult was a direct result of Norway voting against joining the European Union. Unlike those of us enjoy the benefits of European harmony, non-EU states do not pay VAT on Reg goodies. So, when it came to setting up the system, we just dumped Norway in the non-VAT listing. Simple as that.

Well, this got a few backs up in the land of Ibsen and Grieg. People spoke, we listened, and now Norway is back in the fold. The country is now listed as 'Rest of Europe', along with Andorra, Iceland and Switzerland.

Iceland? Have we gone mad? Possibly so, but admitting the birthplace of elfin chantreuse Bjork into our happy family of states was the least we could do after mistakenly suggesting that Icelandic explorer and all-round good egg Leif Ericson was Norwegian. Sorry about that.

Now, let this be an end to the matter. Doubtless representatives of other states will be in touch insisting that they are in fact 'Rest of Europe' as well. We will view each case on its merits, and a country's application will be processed in about 2-4 weeks. Meanwhile, their emails will be held in a secure former RAF base outside Basingstoke. For their own protection, obviously. ®
