The British management team of Touchstar Technologies has bought the company for an undisclosed sum.
Venture funding was supplied by Lloyds TSB Development Capital (LDC).
Touchstar is the maker of TouchPC rugged, hand-held computers and application software. Turnover is £17m and the business operates out of five locations in the
UK, USA, mainland Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Its headquarters will be in Manchester.
Touchstar's previous owner was the US energy corporation, The Williams Companies. Set up in
1986 in the UK as ACS Data, TouchStar was bought by US energy company Mapco Inc. in 1997. Mapco was in turnbought by The Williams Companies Inc. in 1998. ®
