Choosing a cloud hosting partner with confidence

Another day, another bloody Internet survey.

Today's gem comes form NetValue which tells us there are now more than 14 million home Net users in the UK, with more than a third of UK homes now connected to the Net.

Six out of ten Net users are men. Four out of ten are women. Kids under 15 made up around 8 per cent of users, while 5 per cent were "silver surfers" aged 65 and over.

Question is, does all this detail actually make a difference to anybody? Does anybody really care - especially in light of the stack of research that gets published all the time?

Only yesterday, Jupiter MMXI reported that a third of the UK population - some 33 million people - accessed the Web at least once between April and June.

Make of it what you will.

Anyhow, NetValue did at least throw some light on the reunion Web site - Friendsreunited.co.uk

It revealed that traffic grew from 97,000 unique home visitors in May to 542,000 unique visitors in July.

And a quarter of those went on to make a secure connection on the website, suggesting that they paid the fee required to actually contact long lost friends.

A dotcom generating revenue - whatever next?

"A good idea can still take off at enormous speed on the Internet", NetValue's Alki Manias said.

"This success story shows the power of word of mouth on the net," he said.

Whatever. ®
