The Essential Guide to IT Transformation

Updated Okay, you're gonna laugh but a bit of software produced by VirtuaGirl which consists of an two-inch-high woman stripping in the corner of your PC screen is the best thing we've seen for ages. No, not in that sense.

We came across the company when checking out "easy" sites. Easypic.com is a porn site and was flagging up the miniature moving woman, so out of curiosity we downloaded the free trial program.

Basically, VirtuaGirl loads itself into your icons bar and either at your prompting or after a time lapse, a small woman appears in front of all your windows and does a little dance before walking off again. So what?

Well, it's the quality and simplicity that we love. We're talking small files but high-quality rendering and movement and all discreetly tucked into the bottom right-hand side (or left) of your screen. It's no secret that the porn industry has come up with hundreds of innovations in Internet technology - because its customers want things faster, better, simpler - and this is another of them.

The software itself is seamless, easy to use, instinctive and so on. How do we know? Because we signed up for a three-day period for $2.95. All in the course of serious investigative journalism of course.

So how on earth are small stripping women going to be of any use beyond sad pervs like this reporter? Simple. Any company, industry, business in which movement is essential in explaining something could benefit. The software basically enables you to build a database of different movies.

Imagine, for example, golfers. Download 20 or so different movies showing how professionals hit the ball for £3. Sit and watch how to improve your swing at work. Every one can take anything from 10 seconds to several minutes. When you've got a spare minute, click the icon and away you go.

Or DIY stores could offer little movies on how to do stuff. Start simple with wiring a plug. And of course there are the heavy marketing possibilities. Your product revolving around in the corner of the screen. There must be hundreds of other uses. We think it's got legs.

Want to know what we're taking about? Click here to download the free software. Don't worry, there's no flesh for show in the trial version so you won't get the sack.

Update

We have been barracked by a young lady, incensed at our limited, heterosexual outlook. Of course, what we have failed to mention is that there is also a VirtuaGuy at www.virtuaguy.com.

While we covered the interests of the majority of our readers (men), not to mention homosexual women and, to a degree, bisexual men and women, we foolishly failed to cover heterosexual women and homosexual men. Our apologies.

So if muscular men in tight trousers and flappy shirts is more your thing, you know where to go. ®
