AMD to ship 1.4GHz Athlon MP by August

Online chip store's catalog says so

AMD is preparing to take its Athlon MP server line to 1.4GHz real soon now.

Certainly, the part has appeared on at least one online chip reseller's price lists. Take a look at ENPC.com, we were told, so we did, and there we found this page.

The company is offering a 1.4GHz, 266MHz frontside bus Athlon MP for $309 if you buy over the phone or $295 if you buy online, some $66 more than it's asking for the 1.2GHz part. To date, AMD has only announced 1.0GHz and 1.2GHz, which it launched early June. The new part's Enpc product code is CPU-AMDMP1400.

ENPC.com reckons the part will ship on the 5 August. ®
