EDS is to buy German computer services firm Systematics for $570 million in cash and shares. This is equivalent to one-times turnover, so it suggests either very good negotiating skills on EDS' part, or poor profitability on Systematics'.
EDS says the acquisition, its biggest in Europe to date, should close mid-year and it will be earnings neutral for the rest of the calendar year. The deal is expected to be earnings accretive in 2002.
With Systematics under its wing, EDS Germany will double in size overnight. ®
