Supanet mulls sale offer

What does this mean for Time Computers?

Published Thursday 15th March 2001 13:13 GMT

ISP Supanet is up for sale, according to the FT.

The Burnley-based ISP denies the story but admits Supanet's sister company, the Internexus Group, has employed city advisors to investigate ways of funding its growth.

Internexus offers corporate Web hosting. Its city advisors, Close Brothers, received an offer for Supanet from a European ISP in the course of touting Internexus.

Supanet said it had made no plans to meet with the ISP.

Supanet has a reported 280,000 active users.

Supanet is closely related to PC builder and retailer Time Computers. Though they are both completely separate businesses, they are based very close to each other in Burnley, and they do work together. All Time PCs are sold offering Net access through Supanet.

Time is such a major conduit for Supanet it would be astonishing to us if there were no financial interest from Time's owners in Supanet.

Supanet and Internexus are owned by a Jersey based private company Supaworld Holdings. Supanet is not able to divulge who the backers of Supaworld are.
