Agentless Backup is Not a Myth

Hewlett-Packard is to pump out two more CD-writer drives this month, in a timely move to cash in on music download frenzy.

The HP CD-Writer DVD Combo 9900ci drive is an internal drive for reading DVD discs, downloading MP3 files and digital images, and making and playing CDs. It costs $349.

HP is throwing in DVD player software with this for a limited time - so users can play DVD films or multimedia games on a PC.

The other offering is a speedy internal drive - the HP CD-Writer 9710i lets users write 650MB of data, around 74 minutes or audio to a CD, in around five minutes. It costs $299.

Both drives, which add to HP's other four internal and two external drives, should be available in the US this month. ®
