Amazon and Wal-Mart are in "secret talks" to construct a wide-ranging alliance between the two companies, the Sunday Times claims.
A deal could be signed within six weeks, with Amazon becoming Wal-Mart's online fulfilment house, according to the paper.
At the same time, Amazon would gain a presence in Wal-Mart retail outlets "a cash injection and a percentage of the sales it makes through the retail giant", the paper says. But no equity will change hands - if the deal comes off.
The Sunday Times source for the story appears to be "one executive close to the talks". ®
