VNUNet is to ditch its standalone online news service.
Ten staff including admin and journalists have lost their jobs as a result of the action.
VNU claims the decision to reintroduce its online news service within the confines of its print stable is part of a strategy to "fully integrate cross media solution allowing clients to precisely target audiences across print, Web, PDA, WAP, CD, email, and direct marketing simultaneously".
Critics simply argue that VNUNet's attempt to offer a standalone news service has failed, unable to make the grade in the tough online world. ®
