AltaVista UK will not be making any job cuts following yesterday's major redundancy announcement, according to a spokeswoman for the company.
However, AltaVista has yet to rule out job cuts at its European headquarters in Maidenhead.
In a statement issued yesterday AltaVista said: "The company has reduced its staff by 200 people, or 25 per cent, which primarily affects employees at AltaVista's headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif."
The use of the word "primarily" suggests that not all the redundancies will come from the US.
AltaVista employees at its European headquarters remained tight-lipped this morning when El Reg called for a chat.
Asked about the redundancies, one staffer said: "They haven't announced that yet."
Which suggests that the leaving cards are being signed as we speak. ®
