We're sending a big sloppy Reg kiss to our readers in Slovenia - all 1,896 of 'em (according to our December stats). This number puts them 35th in the Vulture Central readership league table, ahead of Russia and Mexico, but sadly lagging behind that hotbed of IT, Kazakhstan.
So what, you may ask? Well, it appears that we have done the place a disservice, as this letter (and 39 more emails on the same topic) shows:
Excuse me for your poor geographical knowledge, but Slovenia is not in the Balkans. Surely then, England is just the same as Scotland and it is perfectly OK to call Canadians Americans
Best wishes,
Simon Dobnik
Fair enough. According to our sources, the Balkan States comprise Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, the European part of Turkey and the Ferderal Republic of Yugoslavia. Where does that leave poor old Slovenia? Since it has borders with Croatia, Hungary, Austria and Italy, the place has got plenty of options.
So, Slovenia, how are you going to play it? Is it to be lederhosen and green felt hats with feathers sticking out of them, or Armani clothes on the back of some Vespa? Give it to us straight. ®
