Hewlett-Packard has spruced up its Pavilion range of consumer PCs and notebooks.

The range, out later this month, includes models in the 7000 series - new PCs in this series, the Pavilion 7850 and 7840, are meant to be cheap and small, according to HP. The 7850 retails at $1,049, with Pentium III 933MHz chip, 128MB SDRAM, 40GB hard drive, and HP CD-Writer and CD-RW drive. The 7840 is priced at $799, and comes with 766MHz Celeron, 64MB SDRAM, 30GB hard drive, CD-Writer and CD-RW drive.

There is also a Pavilion 6830 for $599, with Celeron 700MHz, 64MB SDRAM and 20GB hard drive.

The Pavilion N5200 notebook comes with either Pentium III or Celeron chip, up to 256MB SDRAM, 10-20GB hard drive, up to 15-inch screen, 8x DVD-ROM or CDRW and 56k modem. It is priced after rebates from $1,199 to $2,599.

The PCs come in a range of colours - metallic silver or baja blue, with colour replaceable parts in platinum, slate blue metallic, forest green metallic, purple mist metallic or burgundy metallic. ®
