Legal rottweiler Rambus' pending court case against Infineon has been postponed due to the judge being promoted.

The court in Mannheim, Germany has rescheduled the case, originally set for 22 December, to May next year due to the judge originally assigned to hear the patent infringement suit being promoted to the appeals court. The Rambus lawsuits against Hyundai and Micron in Mannheim are still scheduled for February.

The delay is somewhat ironic as Rambus has adopted a policy of pursuing its legion legal tussles outside the US to avoid lengthy waits for court time at home.

In September, Rambus filed its second patent infringement suit against Infineon, in which it seeks injunctions to halt the sale, manufacture and use of Infineon SDRAM and DDR SDRAM memory devices that it claims violate its intellectual property.

The following month Infineon issued a counter suit, claiming that Rambus' RDRAM design is based on earlier work done by Infineon. ®
