Elektex is claiming a world first with the launch of a roll-up fabric keyboard, and says the device will be a big hit with PDA users.
The selling point, of course, is that it is easier to type than to use the stylus and the Graffiti handwriting input employed on PalmOS PDAs. It can be folded, rolled up, scrunched and washed without breaking, the company says.
Based on the sales of similar devices, plastic keyboards and so on, which according to a spokesman for the company are selling faster than they can be made, Elektex is confident that it will be a big seller.
Although prices have yet to be confirmed Elektex is expecting to retail the keyboard at between $50 and $70 in the US with similar pricing in the UK. It is expected to become available early next year. ®
