Intel finally confirmed details of its latest round of price cuts yesterday.

As we revealed some time ago (http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/3/14083.html), the fastest PIII available, the 1GHz, drops by 31 per cent from $669 to $465.

Other PIIIs are reduced by a similar percentage, the 933MHz is now $348, the 866 and 850 $241.
Slower PIIIs now range from $143 for the 600MHz part to $193 for the 800MHz.

Desktop and mobile Celerons are also reduced. Desktop Celeron 700s go down 36 per cent to $88, the 667 to $83, the 633 to $79 and the 600 to $73. The 566MHz Celeron is hanging on to life by the skin of its teeth at an unchanged $69.

Mobile PIIIs remain unchanged, ranging from $198 for the humble 500MHz to $722 for the 850MHz SpeedStep jobbie. Celeron mobiles go down by up to 28 per cent. New prices are: 700MHz $181; 650 $134; 600 $96; 550 $75; 500LV $134; and 500 $70.

An interesting footnote appears at the end of the price list: "Special promotional arrangements may apply."
