Pentium III to get new core

Pity it's the same one that caused the 1.13GHz recall

According to ixbt labs (http://www.ixbt-labs.com/), Intel is about to revamp its PIII Slot One chips ranging from 600 to 933MHz with the cC0 core used in the flip chip variants of the processor.

The C stepping is around five per cent smaller than the cB0 currently used, making it both more economical to manufacture and more stable at high clock speeds.

The tragically short-lived and now airbrushed-out-of-history 1.13GHz PIII used the same C stepping, although Intel maintains the instability problems exhibited at speeds in excess of 1GHz will not occur at lower frequencies. ®
