Steps to Take Before Choosing a Business Continuity Partner

Motorola is suing Hector Ruiz, Jerry Sander's anointed successor at AMD, and one-time Motorola employee, for "luring away" a senior finance executive from his old company.

Motorola accuses Ruiz, AMD chief operating officer and president, of breaking a deal to refrain from poaching Motorola staff; it is demanding the return of a "substantial six-figure amount" paid to Ruiz to secure his agreement.

The Motorola employee jumping ship is Robert Rivet, who joins AMD as chief finance officer. Rivet used to report to Ruiz, in his capacity as director of the semiconductor products sector at Motorola.

Ruiz joined AMD from Motorola this year. ®
