HSBC - the high street-cum Internet bank - was vandalised earlier today by an unknown e-vandal whinging about the high price of fuel.
The front page was daubed with various sentiments although HSBC spokesman, Adrian Russell, couldn't say exactly what was written.
Apologising unreservedly for the scrawl and aware that it was an embarrassment to the bank, Russell was adamant that the integrity and security of the bank had not been violated.
"All internal systems are safe", he said.
Techies at HSBC managed to clean up the site and resurrect it by coffee break this morning - which is handy. ®
