Faster Intel mobiles coming Monday

850, 800 PIII, 700 Celeron to debut next week

Remaining tight-lipped as ever over forthcoming products, Intel today refused to confirm or deny that three new mobile chips are to launch on Monday.

The 850 and 800MHz Pentium III SpeedStep mobiles (running at 700 and 650MHz respectively on batteries) will be joined by a 700MHz Celeron mobile, a 50MHz speed bump from the previous top Celeron. The fastest mobile PIII available at the moment clocks in at 750MHz.

The usual suspects should have systems available at launch, including Compaq, IBM and Dell.

Our best guess at 1Ku pricing is around $185 for the 700 Celeron with the 850 PIII at $575 and the 800 at $425. Lesser mobile processors should drop in price at the same time, desktop parts remaining unchanged until Pentium 4 launches on October 30. ®
