Pop tart Madonna has a bit of competition for her namesake URL - from a US hospital. We told you back in, um when was it, last month sometime that the popstress wanted madonna.com which is currently held by online pornographer Dan Parisi. Back then we questioned whether she was more important that that other Madonna - the one that people have made statues about, usually with a little child (how many statues do you have sweetheart?).

However, while the idea appears to be that you can take someone else's property if you reckon you deserve it more (a good rule of thumb if anarchy is your thing), the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska reckons it has a fair claim too. In fact, Parisi had offered the domain to the hospital in spring - the hospital doesn't seem to know why.

Anyway, so the stage is set and WIPO - friend to rich companies and people everywhere - will decide this month on who gets it. We would like to see WIPO make an adult decision for once and if anything give it to the hospital, but it won't. Firstly because this is all good PR and Madonna is quite rich and secondly because, let's face it, a hospital having the URL Madonna.com is just stupid. Still, interesting situation. ®
