Scunthorpe babes? Well, one or two are all right…

Internet vote rigging to get the howlers in

[We ran a story on a radio station's vain attempt to persuade us that Scunthorpe was full of attractive women. It did itself a disservice and probably wiped out whatever tourism income it was getting. Some readers were also rigging an Internet vote to get a particularly unique lady the main prize (we won't say which, but it is a round number). Oh, we were also sent no.7's email address but have yet to come up with a way of wooing her (d'you think the promise of a Mayfair pad might swing it?)]

Scunthorpe babe watch aims to prove Sun wrong

Being an American, perhaps I lack the same perspective, but it seems apparent to me that the first problem is the photos. They appear to have been taken by a half-blind monkey with alcoholic shakes.

David Levi

What they have proven is that Yorkshire is a technological backwater, since they have no idea how to take a flattering photograph, and obviously have never heard of Photoshop!

I read excellent Register articles every day, but this one has given the most pleasure for a long time.

It's difficult to stop laughing at some of the pictures, and somewhat alarming to see some of the others.

Many thanks for the link!

Cheers,
Alan Kennington.

My solicitors will be suing you, The Register, your ISP, and any and all parties associated with the willful and intention infliction of the emotional distress and harm caused to me by viewing the link referenced in your article "Scunthorpe babe watch aims to prove Sun wrong". I am not interested in settlement talks due to the strength of my case, so don't even bother suggesting a settlement unless it's a really good one.

Regards,
Jim Orosz

I am in the USA, (Michigan) and would get on the first thing smoking (plane, train, boat, what ever) to see one of these women.

Daniel Skaff

I dunno.

Number 4 Eleanor Mary Colleran, number 7 (as you chose) Laura Hodge, number 12 Claire Genney, and number 26 Donna Cherritt, could all come around here, and be welcome anytime. Still, only four beauties is a rather dismal showing out of 36 supposed "babes", isn't it? ;-{

I feel sorry for the boys there. Here in Minnesnowta USA, the babes seem to far outnumber the dogs. I'm going down to one of the local beaches, to recover and rest my eyeballs, after souring my outlook on girls, with that bunch.

Frank McCoy

Yup, I'll go with Number Seven (Scunthorpe glamour pusses.)

Sadly, I only live ten miles from Scunthorpe, and their steelworks are almost as ugly. :->
