Scunthorpe babe watch aims to prove Sun wrong

But, sadly, it backfires.

Viking FM, Scunthorpe's local radio station, was appalled at accusations by the Sun national newspaper that women in Scunthorpe were, how do you say, not likely to inflame your passions.

And so, to its credit, it set up Miss Scunny Honey 2000 with the intention of setting the record straight. Fortunately for all you lot, it has put the results of its endeavour on the Web. So, if you fancy popping up to Lincolnshire (North-East England for our foreign readers) you can check out the local talent before you leave.

Now, we know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but Viking FM doesn't seem to have achieved its original brief. The responses elicited from Reg staff were varied: laughter, exclamations along the lines of "blimey", "bloody hell", animal noises and wretching sounds were the most popular.

That said, number 7, Laura Hodge, who is "nice and caring" is welcome round Vulture Central anytime.
