Telewest has slashed the cost of its broadband service, blueyonder, The Register can confirm.

The service will now be available for £33 (including VAT) a month - down from £50 a month.

In a statement, Gavin Patterson, Director of Marketing for Internet and Telephony at Telewest, said: "blueyonder is now the most competitively priced high-speed Internet service in the UK and represents exceptional value."

Telewest's new offer undercuts BT's single-user ADSL offering by £84 a year.

No one at BT was available for comment by press time to say whether the telco would respond and cut prices for its broadband products. ®
