Chip and chipset company Via said it is to hold its first technology forum in Taipei in mid-September.

And, at that forum, the company is proposing an "open value" technology platform for the Net which will include support for 1394 "Fireware" and double data rate (DDR) memory.

Intel holds its main developer forum twice a year in the US, but has also rolled out Asian shows in the past.

Via CEO Wen-Chi Chen said that topics covered will include the advanced communication riser, DDR memory, 1394, desktop and mobile PC platforms, Internet appliances and networking and communications generally.
