William Henning, over at CPU Review, has performed a price comparison between Intel Pentium IIIs and the up-and-coming Athlon K7. The interesting thing is that the comparison is based on retail and not 1,000 pricing, and it shows that the Athlon is, by and large, cheaper than Pentium IIIs. The one exception is at the 600MHz level, which was going to be the sweet spot for AMD. However, it is now being widely reported that when AMD intros the Athlon K7 tomorrow/Tuesday, it will announce a 650MHz processor too.
