An AMD spokesperson today confirmed that at a board of directors meeting on the 29th of April, it will be proposed that Atiq Raza will become president and chief operating officer (COO) of the company. (See story: AMD's Sanders to take back seat) That effectively means that Jerry Sanders III will stay as chairman of the company but the day-to-day running of the company will be under Raza's control. Raza, as reported here earlier, was the CEO of NexGen, the company which developed the technology at the heart of the K6-III. He also made sure he brought ex-Digital engineers on board to help with the development of the K7. ®
