Just a week after Intel confirmed it was talking to Hyundai about the possibility of buying its mothballed LG Semicon fab in Wales, it appears that another mothballed fab is up for sale. A report on US wire Electronic Buyers News quoted a Hyundai official as saying that it was "only weeks ago" from striking a deal on the memory fab, which was also a former LG Semicon plant. At one time, Hyundai was going to open its own memory fabrication plant in Scotland, but withdrew after the bottom fell out of the DRAM market. Intel could not be reached for comment about whether it had talked to Hyundai about this Scottish fab. Last week, a representative said that although it had talked to Hyundai, those talks were just that. ® Related Stories Intel just talking about buying Welsh fab Hyundai puts Scottish fab on ice See Also The EBN story can be found here
